Residential complexes and schools of Pinheiro to be inspected by engineering company

Maceió, May 14, 2019 - The residential complexes Divaldo Suruagy and Jardim Acácia, as well as the schools Padre Brandão Lima, Radialista Edécio Lopes Lopes [sic], Luiz Calheiros Júnior and Colégio Estadual Nossa Senhora do Bom Conselho, will all go through an engineering inspection. The objective of the technical work, according to Braskem, is to evaluate the integrity of the structures in the buildings of the district of Pinheiro, in Maceió.

The action of Braskem is part of the Technical Cooperation Agreement signed among the Municipality of Maceió, the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Alagoas (Crea-AL) and the Federal, State and Labor Public Prosecutor's Offices (MPF, MPE and MPT) as part of the mitigation actions performed by the company in the district of Pinheiro.

The building structures are in the features map prepared by the Geological Survey of Brazil (CPRM) in a partnership with the Municipal Civil Defense. The inspection will be initiated on Wednesday (15) at the complex Divaldo Suruagy.

An engineering company suggested by Crea-AL and hired by Braskem will verify the conservation status of the buildings. The engineers will be accompanied by members of the Civil Defense during the service. The objective is to determine whether there are settlements (movements), fissures, cracks and damages compromising the integrity of the analyzed structures. With the inspection results, it will be possible to evaluate the security of the buildings. The work is expected to be concluded within 45 days.

Braskem has been present in the state for more than 40 years and is committed to the society of Alagoas. The company has put itself as part of the solution for the events occurred in the district of Pinheiro.
