Press note about judicial appeal

Maceió, April 9, 2019 - Braskem informs it has filed an appeal against the court order to freeze its assets, for being of the opinion that there is no conclusive study that evidences the company's liability for the events registered in the district of Pinheiro,  a decision without a final report not being reasonable. Moreover, Braskem is a solvent company that fulfills its obligations, there being no reason for a compulsory freezing of its assets, which has a negative impact on its operations in the state of Alagoas.

The appeal does not affect at all the company's commitment to being a part of the solutions for the problems, which is already happening with the taking of emergency action in the district, as set forth in the Technical Cooperation Agreement entered into with the Municipality of Maceió, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF-AL), the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE-AL), the Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT-AL) and the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of the State of Alagoas (CREA-AL).

Braskem shall continue to collaborate with the authorities to find the causes of the occurrences in the district of Pinheiro and, as it has already stated, if it is proved that its activities gave rise to the events in the district, it shall assume its responsibility before the people of the state of Alagoas, as it has done throughout the more than 40 years it has worked in the state.
