Extraction has wells filled at all moments

Maceió, March 12, 2019 - The process for extraction of rock salt conducted by Braskem follows internationally used standards and does not leave the wells "empty" during the extraction,  after the end of the activities. The wells are completely filled with brine solution (mixture of water with high concentration of salt), which is an incompressible fluid and therefore ensures the integrity of the wells.

It is important to note that all the rock salt extraction wells of Braskem have been periodically inspected and monitored over the last 40 years, in compliance with all the technical and legal requirements and do not show, in their influence area, any damage to the surface structures.  One of the main controls in the mining development is made via sonar. A total of 125 inspections have already been performed throughout this period.

Currently, Braskem is repeating the sonar study in all the active and deactivated wells.
