Profile
Braskem is a
global company
with industrial units located in Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Europe and Asia. Founded in 2002 via the integration of six companies from the Odebrecht Organization and the Mariani Group, we are the sixth largest petrochemical company in the world in the production of thermoplastic resins. With customers in more than 71 countries, we are the market leader in the Americas and pioneers in the production of biopolymers (plastic made of renewable raw material) on an industrial scale.
We are the largest producer of plastics in the Americas, based on the annual production capacity of our plants in Brazil and the United States.
We produce a diverse portfolio of petrochemicals and thermoplastics, including polyethylene (PE), green polyethylene (biopolymer), polypropylene (PP), and PVC. Our products are normally used to manufacture a wide range of items that people use in their daily lives in segments such as food packaging, home furniture, industrial and automobile components, paints and coatings, and others.
What we produce
Braskem is the only integrated first and second generation petrochemical company for thermoplastic resins in Brazil. This is reflected in competitive advantages, such as the scale of production and operational efficiency.
The first generation produces basic petrochemicals such as ethylene and propylene from naphtha, natural gas and ethane. These compounds are fundamental to the second generation, which involves the manufacturing of thermoplastic resins (PE, PP and PVC), used subsequently by the third generation, transformation companies.
