Braskem Highlights Innovation and Leadership in Biopolymers at K 2025 Trade Fair

Company showcases renewable and circular products at its booth, aiming to accelerate the transformation of the plastics industry

Braskem, a global petrochemical company that develops sustainable chemical and plastic solutions to improve people's lives, is participating in K 2025, the world's leading trade fair for plastics and rubber, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company is presenting a new ecosystem that brings together its renewable and circular products, with a focus on accelerating the transformation of the plastics industry. The booth features polymer applications across various conversion processes, as well as highlights from partnerships with Dutch brands Bottle Up and Eurobottle, and German company Polytan.

Within its sustainable portfolio, Braskem is unveiling new products and collaborations that bring innovation and sustainability to packaging, healthcare, hygiene, and consumer goods.
"K 2025 is the ideal moment to show how our innovations are ready to be applied in people's everyday lives," says Américo Bartilotti, Vice President of Commercial Operations for South America at Braskem. "We're not just testing the market-we're focused on scaling solutions that combine technical performance with environmental benefits," he adds.

New Products on Display

  • MDO Film with I'm greenT bio-based PE
Braskem introduces a new application of Machine Direction-Oriented (MDO) technology using bio-based polyethylene derived from sugarcane ethanol. These films offer enhanced stiffness, improved optical properties, and recyclability, enabling monomaterial packaging such as flow packs, MDO labels, and stand-up pouches. The materials were developed in partnership with Braskem's circular packaging design lab, Cazoolo, and converter FCO Group.

  • Medcol: LDPE with I'm greenT bio-based for Healthcare Applications
Under the Medcol brand, Braskem presents a low-density polyethylene designed for pharmaceutical applications, such as blow-fill-seal processes (disposable plastic ampoules with caps). The material meets regulatory requirements without additives and offers improved thermal resistance and flowability. According to a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) updated in 2023, the product has a carbon footprint of -2.27 kg CO²e per kg, reinforcing its sustainable profile for healthcare packaging.

  • HDPE I'm greenT bio-based for Nonwoven Applications
Developed for the nonwoven market, especially hygiene products like diapers, this high-density polyethylene offers low gel levels, excellent processing stability, enhanced thermal resistance, and strong color stability. According to the 2023 LCA study, the product has a carbon footprint of -2.01 kg CO²e per kg.

  • EVA 21%: Ultra-Soft Foam I'm greenT bio-based
Braskem unveils a new ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam under the I'm greenT bio-based brand, with 21% vinyl acetate content, offering superior softness and flexibility. Ideal for footwear applications such as soles and insoles, the material combines functional advantages with renewable origin, serving as a sustainable alternative for high-quality products.

Featured Partnerships at the Booth

  • Polytan
A German manufacturer of high-performance sports surfaces, Polytan uses Braskem's I'm greenT bio-based PE in advanced turf technologies. The Poligras Paris GT zero, the world's first carbon-neutral synthetic turf, was featured at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In soccer, the LigaTurf Cross GT zero system offers a recyclable, multifunctional solution with elite performance.

  • Bottle Up & Eurobottle
Bottle Up, based in Amsterdam, offers reusable bottles made with I'm greenT bio-based PE to reduce plastic waste and carbon emissions. Eurobottle, located in Dronten in the Netherlands, has over 30 years of experience in durable sports bottles, now fully renewable to support a circular future.

  • Veja
The French footwear and accessories brand developed a sneaker with internal layers made from I'm greenT bio-based material. The product demonstrates how renewable plastics can be integrated into premium products without compromising design or performance.
