Considering a challenging environment for the petrochemical industry and a prolonged downcycle-exacerbated by high energy costs and reduced economic activity in Europe-Braskem is redirecting all resources toward its core business: the production of chemicals and plastics.

As such, Braskem is divesting from the mechanical recycling joint venture, Upsyde, with Terra Circular, which focused on producing road plates and pallets from post-consumer plastic. 

We remain committed to our sustainability agenda, as demonstrated by our recent investment in expanding biopolymer capacity in Brazil and the development of a new biopolymer plant project in Thailand. We also continue to maintain several active partnerships in both mechanical and chemical recycling, where we serve as off-takers for specialized companies.
 

In Anbetracht der herausfordernden Situation der petrochemischen Industrie und des anhaltenden Abschwungs - verstärkt durch hohe Energiekosten und verringerte wirtschaftliche Aktivität in Europa - fokussiert Braskem alle Ressourcen auf das Kerngeschäft: Die Produktion von Chemikalien und Kunststoffe.

Somit beendet Braskem die Investition in das Joint Venture für mechanisches Recycling mit Terra Circular, Upsyde, das Straßenplatten und Paletten aus post-consumer Kunststoff.

Wir bleiben unserer Agenda für mehr Nachhaltigkeit treu, dies zeigen unsere jüngsten Investitionen in die Erweiterung der Biopolymerkapazität in Brasilien und die Entwicklung eines neuen Biopolymeranlagenprojekts in Thailand. Darüber hinaus behalten wir weiterhin mehrere aktive Partnerschaften im Bereich des mechanischen und chemischen Recyclings bei, in denen wir als Abnehmer für spezialisierte Unternehmen fungieren.
