Braskem joins at Expo 2025 Osaka's Brazil Pavilion to spotlight applications made from I'm greenTMbio-based polyethylene

Braskem, Inc. (Headquarters: São Paulo, SP, Brazil, CEO: Roberto Ramos)- Braskem (B3: BRKM3, BRKM5, and BRKM6; NYSE: BAK; LATIBEX: XBRK today announced its participation at Expo 2025 Osaka. The company will showcase its I'm greenT bio-based solutions in the Brazil Pavilion.

The Pavilion is designed as a living, sensory environment that celebrates nature and innovation. In line with this concept, Braskem offers opportunities to learn about I'm greenT bio-based plastics. Visitors will see how I'm greenT bio-based polymers are enabling the next wave of lower environmental impact goods. Braskem's I'm greenT bio-based is produced from sugarcane, a renewable feedstock that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is recyclable in the same streams as conventional plastics-allowing brands to advance sustainability without retooling their conversion lines.

APPLICATIONS

I'm greenT bio-based EVA*1 and ASICS:

  • Lower CO2 Emissions: The cultivation of sugarcane used as feedstock to produce the carbon negative foam makes the GEL-LYTET III CM 1.95, ASICS' model with the lowest amount of CO2 emissions*2.
  • Performance Compatibility: I'm greenT contributes to the development of foam materials suitable for midsoles and insoles, offering comfort without compromising quality.
  • Transparency: Braskem supports the data-driven sustainability claims made by ASICS, as the calculation of CO2 emissions of the shoes was carried out in accordance with ISO 14067 and has been verified by a third party. The LCA data for I'm greenT has also been verified, supporting ASICS' sustainability claims.

I'm greenT bio-based PE and bottle up:

  • Lower CO2 Emissions: The adoption of I'm greenT helps reduce upstream CO² emissions.
  • Long Life: bottle up aims to reduce single-use plastic waste and combat climate change without compromising convenience. Their bottles are lightweight yet durable and designed for repeated use. Longer use contributes to more efficient resource utilization and further CO² reduction.

I'm greenT bio-based PE and Polytan:

  • High performance with sustainability: Polytan uses I'm greenT bio-based polyethylene in its world-leading artificial turf systems - Poligras for hockey and LigaTurf for football and rugby. These surfaces combine sustainable materials with outstanding playing properties. From Olympic Games and World Cups to schools and clubs worldwide, Polytan turfs make sports better.
  • Carbon zero innovation: Polytan is the only company to offer carbon zero artificial turfs worldwide. LigaTurf Cross GT Zero is the world's first carbon zero football and rugby turf, while Poligras Paris GT Zero - the only carbon zero hockey turf - was chosen for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, proving that meaningful carbon reduction and elite Olympic performance can be achieved together.

*1 Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate

*2 Based on available industry data for life cycle CO²e emissions as of Sep. 2023.

"Expo 2025 is a platform for envisioning a better future. At the Brazil Pavilion, we're showcasing how I'm greenT bio-based polyethylene supports carbon neutrality and a circular economy through innovative, sustainable applications," said Frederico Akira Yajima Chaves Campos, Japan Country Manager at Braskem.
