Braskem wins FINEP Innovation Award in the Large Business category
Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the world's leading producer of biopolymers, has won the FINEP Innovation Award in the Large Business category. The award ceremony was held this Thursday, December 15, at Palácio do Planalto, and was attended by the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff.
As the winner in this category, Braskem competed against Web and Embraer. The petrochemical company's growth strategy is based on the development of new technologies supported by research. The Company maintains partnerships to develop competitive routes that use renewable raw materials for the future production of new biopolymers. The innovation area plays a strategic role in helping the company reach its target of becoming the leader in sustainable chemicals by 2020.
To date, Braskem has filed over 420 patents, both in Brazil and abroad. The research and innovation area has been receiving continuous investments for more than 10 years, having received investments of R$65 million in 2010, and currently has a 250 members.
