Bringing together external specialists with diverse backgrounds, Braskem creates Sustainable Development Advisory Board

To foster a new vision, guided by diversity and objectivity on health, safety, climate change, plastics waste, social responsibility, and others related to its strategy for 2030 and 2050, Braskem announces the creation of its Sustainable Development Advisory Board.
This is the first time Braskem has implemented a sustainable development body formed by external and independent members. The goal is to draw on expert support for guiding its sustainable development strategy - incorporating and strengthening practices that contribute to the company meeting its targets for 2030 and 2050.
The Committee has been in development since last year based on the principle of diversity in terms of professional background and cultural profiles. Among its members are Clarissa Lins, founding partner of Catavento Consulting; Georg Kell, an engineer specializing in sustainability and founder of the UN Global Compact; Izabella Teixeira, former Brazilian Minister of the Environment; and Philippe Joubert, the CEO of Earth on Board.
The Committee is part of the governance structure of the strategy, which is formed by the company's main executives. The members have a term of office of two years, which may be extended.
To meet the objectives, the board will concentrate on four key pillars: long term sustainability strategy and vision; general goals and the paths for achieving them; guidance on the portfolio of projects and innovation; and know-how on sustainability trends and how to incorporate them into the company's strategies. With their support, Braskem will strengthen its contribution to sustainable development.
