Culture within the PAS
The Cultural Support Program helps promote a calendar of activities to revive traditional festivities in communities surrounding resettled areas. Thematic events, such as workshops and exhibitions, create cultural cycles that encourage the exchange of traditional knowledge. By the end of the year, approximately 380 activities will have been held in these regions.
The PAS also supports grassroots cultural collectives, including coco de roda, quadrilha junina, guerreiro, and pastoril groups. Launched in December 2023, the program strengthens these cultural groups through the acquisition of equipment and services, such as hiring choreographers, costume designers, and musicians; providing costumes, instruments, and sound equipment; and offering operational assistance for rehearsals and transportation.
Upcoming cultural heritage initiatives include the launch of a grant program to support cultural productions, the creation of a space dedicated to culture and identity, and the development of a cultural memory archive. Also nearing completion is the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory for the neighborhoods of Mutange, Pinheiro, Bebedouro, Bom Parto, and Farol, conducted by specialists from the Foundation for University Extension and Research Development (Fundepes/UFAL).
The Social-Urban Action Plan stems from studies established under the Socio-Environmental Agreement, signed by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with participation from the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE) and the Municipality of Maceió.
