Culture in Motion Grant Program Brings Cultural Activities to the Community

Supported projects offer free cultural activities across several neighborhoods in Maceió

Maceió, July 15, 2026 - Maceió's cultural calendar has been enriched with a series of initiatives supported by the Culture in Motion Grant Program ( Edital Cultura em Movimento ). Take a look at the events scheduled through July 23 and plan your visit. The program features workshops, dance classes, and traditional mamulengo puppet theater performances at different venues across the city - all free of charge. The Grant Program is an initiative of the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS), established under the Socio-Environmental Settlement Agreement.

Forró and Samba Without Labels - Forró Workshop for Deaf Participants

The Forró and Samba Without Labels workshop teaches Forró and Samba through an inclusive approach, designed to make these traditional Brazilian dances accessible to deaf participants. Mamulengo Puppet Theater - Greenhouse Effect: Has the Planet Gone Crazy?

The puppet show "Greenhouse Effect: Has the Planet Gone Crazy?" ( Efeito estufa: deu a louca no planeta? ) comes to life through the artistry of puppeteer Pierre de Almeida. African Graphic Arts Workshop - Creative Studios

Those interested in learning new artistic techniques and exploring creative expression through canvas painting, ceramics, and textiles are invited to participate in the African Graphic Arts Workshop. Location: Ateliê e Escola de Arte Cecília Padilha (Art Studio and School), Pinheiro.

Capoeira Workshop - Music, Instruments, Singing, and Maculelê

The workshop includes instruction in Maculelê , a traditional Afro-Brazilian cultural expression that combines dance, music, and theatrical performance. The workshop will be led by instructor Dandara. The activity is part of the Threads of Time (" Tecidos do Tempo" ) project, coordinated by capoeira instructor Aldecy Melquiades. About PAS

The Social-Urban Action Plan is established under the Socio-Environmental Agreement, signed by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with participation from the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE) and the Municipality of Maceió. PAS includes initiatives ranging from the construction or renovation of daycare centers, markets, public squares, and health units to broader actions in the cultural, social, economic, and urban development fields. Some of the actions are executed by the company; others by Maceió's local government.
