  • Training program prepares youth and adults to work in areas with high job availability
  • Program offers a total of 310 spots across 15 courses

Maceió, June 4, 2025- The "Aprendi no Flexal" program launched a new professional training course in May for residents of the region. Free confectionery classes are being held at the SENAI unit located in the Poço neighborhood.

The program offers 20 spots and was designed to meet the community's needs, with skills that are highly valued by employers in fields with more job openings. Participants will learn how to prepare sweets, cakes, cookies, and other desserts, with an emphasis on both artisanal and industrial production methods. They will also receive guidance on controlling ingredient usage, shelf life, and product quality.

The program also includes long-term technical courses in IT and Nursing.

"Aprendi no Flexal" now offers a total of 15 courses and 310 spots. So far, 12 have been completed: Community Communication Workshop; Motorcycle Maintenance; Manicure and Pedicure; Masonry Bricklayer; Residential Plumbing Installer; Residential Electrician; Elderly Caregiver; Basic English for Tourism Services; Basic Cooking; Ceramic Tile Installer; Gel Nail Application; and Coaching for Entrepreneurs.

Professional Training

Professional training for the Flexais community is one of the 23 initiatives defined in the Agreement signed in October 2022 by the Municipality of Maceió, the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the State Prosecutor's Office of Alagoas, the Federal Public Defender's Office, and Braskem, aiming to implement a set of actions focused on urban integration and regional development.

Courses are offered free of charge in partnership with institutions recognized for their expertise in professional training. All necessary transportation and meals are provided free of charge by the Flexais Project.

The "Aprendi no Flexal" program was meticulously developed with input from education specialists and extensive community engagement, including surveys and face-to-face meetings with residents (with over 300 contributions). These efforts helped to identify common interests and expectations regarding employment opportunities, guiding the selection of educational institutions to execute the "Aprendi no Flexal" courses. Other Initiatives

Out of the 23 planned actions to reduce the region's social and economic isolation and boost the local economy, 16 have already been implemented, including the handover of the new daycare centers and primary health unit (UBS) to the Municipality. The public lighting on part of Rua Tobias Barreto has also been requalified, with new lamps and a modernized power grid.

Other ongoing Flexais Project initiatives include requalification of the Rua Faustino Silveira and Praça Nossa Senhora da Conceição, construction of the Shopping Center and Fair Space, the Fishermen's Support Center and installation of a pier for access to Lagoa Mundaú.

Alongside ongoing construction, various measures are being implemented, including urban cleaning, pest control, surveillance, a dedicated and free bus route for Flexais residents, school transportation, and psychological support services. Security cameras have been installed, and the Flexal Space has been structured to accommodate municipal departments that provide direct services to the community.

Indemnity

Braskem has been compensating residents and traders in the region as part of its commitment to the Flexais Project. In April, the Financial Support Program (PAF) reached 99.7% of its target compensation paid to families, residents, and merchants. In total, the Company has paid BRL 50 million.
