Complementing these pillars are ten Braskem macro goals, which include the material topics of the company and its stakeholders. For each macro goal, strategic targets were set for 2020 and intermediate actions were established to ensure they are reached in the coming years. Check it out:
Braskem product registration in the European system REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemical Substances). Became the Leader in Latin America of the Global Product Strategy, in connection with the ICCA (International Council of Chemical Associations). Began the implementation of the System of Excellence in Safety, Health, Environment (Always) in the facilities acquired from Sunoco Chemicals and Quattor.
Submission of the GPS Implementation Plan to the ICCA, along with Abiquim, and issuance of the safety summaries of 27 substances, and of the control plans, as per GPS, of two substances. Priority given to the development of process safety management through the high-risk scanning project, with improvements for 608 process risk scenarios having been analyzed and implemented, in addition to the implementation of the Golden Rules to improve operational discipline was started.
Concluded the risk analysis for benzene and butadiene, as per the GPS Guide. The project for substituting the electrolytic cells from the chlorine production process for the elimination of mercury is found to be in a conceptual stage. Eliminated 177 potential high-risk scenarios and got an accident frequency rate, with and without accident leave, of 1.04 accidents per million hours worked - the best rate in Braskem history, since 2002.
The Company still has its best ratio in history in labor safety, with and without accident leave (CAF+SAF): 1.04 and Invested R$ 151 million in labor and health safety and process security. Recorded the best result in the Company's history with regard to its waste generation index of 2.19 Kg/t, amounting to a 62% improvement in the period from 2002 to 2013.

The company acquired the polypropylene business (PP) from Dow Chemical, with four production facilities, two in the United States, and two in Germany. With an investment of 323 million US dollars, Braskem has become a leader in PP in the United States, the largest thermoplastic resin market in the world.
Braskem and Petróleos Del Peru (PetroPeru) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for technical analysis and economical viability of a petrochemical project in Peru.
Concluded after two years of construction, within the deadline and estimated cost, the PVC facility received an investment of R$ 1 billion, the largest ever made in a single project since the Company was created 10 years ago, 20% advancement in the industrial project being implemented in Mexico, which foresees investments on the order of 2.5 billion US dollars.

The largest industrial facility derived from ethanol on the planet commenced operations at the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex (RS), which allows for the production of 200 thousand tons of green polyethylene (PE) per year. Required investments on the order of R$ 500 million, and was conceived with the Company's own technology. Announced in October: the construction of a green propylene plant (PP), with investments of 100 million US dollars.
Around 85% of all ethanol bought by Braskem was supplied by companies committed to the business principals from the ethanol Suppliers' Code of Conduct, according to the Braskem's principles in sustainable development. - Continuation of the development of chemical product production technologies from raw renewable materials.
Development in research centered around the search for alternative technologies in raw renewable materials. This is the focus of the studies done at LNBio in Campinas (SP). The investment to be made in the first Green PP plant is being kept on hold for a better moment and market to submit the approval of the investment to the Braskem Administration Council.
Even with an increase in the volume of ethanol acquired for production of Green PE with regards to 2012, a high level of supply was maintained with signature suppliers - an average of 98% for the year, surpassing the goal of 90%. The highlights from the audits of the ethanol suppliers were the results with which 100% of facilities demonstrated compliance with the requirements related to Human and Labor Rights, and they all use the controlled burning of sugarcane bagasse to generate energy.

Disclosure of the supermarket bag eco-efficiency study, concluding that the environment impact hangs on the purchasing habits of customers. Returnable bags aren't always the best option, and disposable ones are the best option for scenarios of few purchases. What's more, it was identified that, generally, plastic bags have had less of an impact when compared to their substitutes.
Three new ACV studies were done - on the Green Liner (a project with self-adhesive labels), raffia bags, and green polypropylene -, through the Fundação Espaço Eco and ACV Brasil. The studies allowed Braskem to understand more and more the environmental impact of its products throughout their lifecycles, and with that, the relevance of its contribution in the chain.
8 studies were concluded and another 8 were initiated that are projected to be concluded by 201, and the inaugural event of the ACV Brazilian Business Network was held, a forum led by Braskem with the aim of disseminating the use of the ACV tool and creation of a Brazilian Database (ACV Brazilian Program).
