Braskem wins award from the DCI newspaper for its performance in 2008
The company won the most admired in the Chemical and Petrochemical sector award
Braskem won the DCI newspaper’s Most Admired Companies award this year, in the Chemical and Petrochemical category. According to the publication, one of the company’s highlights this year was the announcement of investments in the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex starting with the sector’s consolidation process in the south. The paper also underscored the scheduled resources of R$ 1 billion over the next three years, part set aside for producing green plastic.
According to the DCI, another of Braskem’s merits was its operational performance, which grew in the third quarter, with an EBITDA margin, which expresses the business' operational profitability, of 13.6%, almost two percentage points higher than the second quarter. This performance reflects revenue growth from basic petrochemicals, especially aromatics, which compensated the higher costs of naphtha in the period.
The award reflects the opinion of professionals from each surveyed sector when asked about the company they most admired, excluding the one for which they worked. Therefore, it is the recognition of people who know the businesses, which further qualifies the evaluation.
"We have attributes such as innovation, sustainability and ethical relations with the market that were constructed for the long term and I believe this is Braskem’s strategic expression in Brazil and abroad. These are the attributes that sowed this reputation in the heads of those surveyed," says Marcelo Lyra, vice-president of Institutional Relations at Braskem.
