The Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Química - ABEQ (Brazilian Association of Chemical Engineering), with sponsorship by Braskem, instituted the 8th Edition of the Nation Post-Graduate Award - Braskem/ABEQ. The objective is to support the advance of science and technology in the country through the promoting of research development projects of high level and importance for Brazil.

Participants may participant in the event who graduated between 2003 and 2007, from Masters or Doctorate courses in the areas of chemical engineering or similar areas, from Brazilian institutions accredited by Ministério da Educação (Ministry of Education). The graduates from 2008 can enroll until the limit date of November 30th.

The best post-graduate projects will be chosen selected by a judging commission, constituted by five members indicated by ABEQ and Braskem. In the assessment criteria, three specific criteria will be assessed:

1- Execution and consistency of the research project;
2- Quality and originality of the results, going from the discussion of the conclusions obtained;
3- Analysis of relevance for the country.

Four competitors will be classified for the awarding; two in the Masters category and two in the Doctorate category (1st and 2nd places). The winning projects will receive, besides the diploma, a cash prize in the value of R$ 6 thousand (Masters category) and R$ 7 thousand (Doctorate category). In the case of a tie, the money will e divided equally, based on the value equivalent to the some of the first and second place awards - R$ 10 thousand for Maters and R$ 12 thousand for Doctorates.

For the second place winners, the prize is R$ 4 thousand (Masters) and R$ 5 thousand (Doctorate), besides the diploma. Enrollment ends on November 30th. The form can be filled in on ABEQ’s site: www.abeq.org.br.
