Braskem is the most admired petrochemical company, according to Carta Capital
Company also stands out in another ranking, published by Gazeta Mercantil
Braskem won the Most Admired Company in Brazil in the petrochemical sector in 2008, according to a survey released by Carta Capital magazine in partnership with TNS InterScience. Braskem was ranked higher than its large competitors in the same segment and exceeded last year’s result, when it came in second.
The survey was conducted in two phases: the first tried to interview the best professionals from all the sectors; then, the selected professionals answered questions exclusively related to their areas of operation. Among the most important issues in the survey, Braskem stood out in ethics, which according to the publication is one of the most important elements for scoring and it was the most remembered by those who were interviewed.
Braskem’s performance was also recognized in the areas of product and service quality, capacity to compete globally, reputation and social responsibility.
Besides that, Braskem also stood out in another ranking, published by the Gazeta Mercantil, as the best company in the chemical sector for Copesul’s performance, today’s Unib-RS. It was selected among the 30 awarded companies in the thirty-second edition of this publication, one of the most complete Brazilian studies to analyze the financial results of 10 thousand companies in different branches.
Selection criteria are established by Ibmec São Paulo, a reference in teaching and research in business and economics. Indicators were evaluated such as profit margin, indebtedness, asset turnover and tax incidence, which had different weights for the final classification.
