Maceió, a city with one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country, will be the stage of the first edition of the Braskem Relay Half Marathon on December 9. It will be held simultaneously with the second edition of the Maceió Half Marathon, sponsored by City of Maceió and the Arnon de Mello Organization, with support from Braskem. The event will gather more than two thousand athletes including both amateurs and high performance participants, highlighting the city’s anniversary celebrations.

Pajucara Beach, the city’s eternal postcard, will be the starting and finish line for both events. In the relay event, teams comprised of four runners will cover 21,097m, the official distance for a half marathon, with each member running 5,275m. The Half Marathon participants will cover the same course, although individually. Along the route, the athletes will pass by some of the most beautiful sections of the seashore such as Ponta Verde and Pontal da Barra, as well as the city’s historical downtown and century-old district of Jaraguá.
