Braskem, the leader in the Latin American market for thermoplastic resins, introduces, together with Royal do Brasil Technologies and Plásticos Vipal, owners of the two technologies available in the domestic market, the ConcretePVC Constructive System at ConcreteShow South America. The event will be held August 15-17 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo and it is the sector’s largest fair in the Americas. It will have more than 100 national and international exhibiters and expects to receive nearly 10 thousand visitors.


ConcretePVC Constructive System is a new technique developed in Canada to design and build several types of buildings in an industrial manner. Comprised of light PVC profiles, the system permits the simple fitting of modules, filled in with concrete and structural steel. In this model, the PVC panels act as molds for the concrete and provide excellent indoor and outdoor finishing to the walls.


The most prominent advantages of the new system are: high productivity with reduced teams, clean job site, no waste and no debris, total control of materials and cost, high durability of materials and easy cleaning and maintenance after.
According to Luciano Nunes, market development manager at Braskem, system versatility permits applications in simpler constructions, such as popular housing and Single Family Sanitary Modules, as well as more complex projects, such as compact sewage treatment plants, industrial and commercial warehouses, 5-floor tall buildings and high standard properties.


A good example of the ConcretePVC Constructive System’s versatility and feasibility was the development and use of the Single Family Sanitary Module, a Ministry of Health project, carried out by FUNASA (National Health Foundation) in Espírito Santo and which is being expanded to other states. Due to its fast assembly characteristics, immunity to fungi and bacteria, hygiene and ease for cleaning and maintenance, the project has already been used in needy and Indian communities.


Another solution that underscores the versatility of projects offered by this System is the compact sewage treatment plant that optimizes the plant’s performance and durability due to the high chemical resistance of PVC to components found in residential and industrial sewage. Confining the structure’s concrete and structural steel in the profiles prolongs the plant’s useful life, protecting it from the aggressive environment. The Alagoan House, a social interest housing project for the northeast, also demonstrates high productivity and competitiveness using the System, basic requirements for large-scale social interest works.


Industrial and service installations can also benefit from the new constructive system. The auxiliary buildings in a 1,500 m2 area for the Paulínia Petrochemical Complex, a joint-venture between Braskem and Petrobras in the interior of São Paulo, were erected in just 60 days by Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, meeting planned sustainability requirements. The project considered the adoption of equipment that reduces water consumption, optimizes energy use, uses rainfall, solar collectors and reduces waste.


These items are also associated with high durability and low maintenance of buildings when using the ConcretePVC Constructive System. The system also contributes to a reduction in the use of wood and water during the construction phase, and it also reduces waste and debris.
