Green Polyethylene (Green PE)
Braskem is the world leader in the field of biopolymers because of Green PE, first produced on a commercial scale in September 2010.
The market values this product highly because it is obtained from a renewable source (instead of fossil fuels) - sugarcane ethanol - while retaining the performance characteristics of a traditional PE, which means it can be used immediately in a variety of applications.
Awarded and recognized worldwide, Braskem's Green PE highly has a very positive environmental balance because, considering the complete supply chain, it removes up to 2.15 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for each ton produced. The product was announced to the market in 2007, has received certification from the international Beta Analytic laboratory, and was recently certified by the Vinçotte Institute of Belgium.
