Wenew: learn more about Braskem's circular economy ecosystem
Renewing the economy to become a model in which the circularity of products becomes a reality is one of Braskem's key areas of activity. It has just launched Wenew, which represents its circular economy ecosystem.
"This ecosystem includes our initiatives which strengthen and materialize the circular economy, collaborating to enhance our connection with the chemical and plastic production chain and with society," explains Edison Terra, Vice President of Olefins and Polyolefins at Braskem in South America. "Through Wenew, we hope to engage and inspire our audiences in the collective effort to progress on this journey together, where everyone's participation is essential," he adds.
Pillars of action
The initiative is centered on four pillars to which Braskem has great potential to contribute: products, education, technology and circular design.
The first pillar, circular products, embraces the portfolio of thermoplastic and chemical resins with recycled content, which are now identified with the Wenew brand. "This is a rapidly evolving portfolio, both from the point of view of volume and in terms of quality and performance. One of our commitments is to expand our production of chemicals and resins with recycled content. By 2030, we will market 1 million tons of these products," Edison stated.
The other pillars are part of the Wemove concept, which brings together collaborative and society-oriented initiatives.
