We won the first edition of the Sustainability Award of the Financial Week & Sustainability Forum of Chemical Week, a North American vehicle, in the category of Best Sustainable Initiative with our portfolio of products for circular economy, the I’m green ™.
Our production of I'm green ™ bio-based polyethylene, renewable plastic, made from sugar cane, was recognized by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and by Rede Brasil do Global Pacto as one of the most transformative innovations in sustainable development in Brazil, in the Industry & Energy category.
We integrate the IGCT portfolio, which recognizes issuing companies with differentiated corporate governance practices, with additional criteria to the IGC (Differentiated Corporate Governance Stock Index).
Braskem is the only Brazilian company recognized as a Leader in Sustainable Development by the UN Global Compact. Global Compact LEAD is a select group of companies that have had their commitments to the UN Global Compact recognized and that assume a leadership role within the Global Compact, considered the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world. More than 10,000 companies from all over the world participate in the Global Compact and, of this total, only 36 companies received UN recognition, with Braskem being the only Brazilian company present among the recognized ones.
Participation in the index, which uses selection criteria based on the ESG score assessed by the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (S&P), to select and weight its components of the S&P Brazil BMI (broad market index) that are listed locally in the B3. The objective is to give investors a central exposure to the Brazilian stock market and at the same time provide a significant boost in performance according to ESG scores.
We have been part of the B3 Carbon Efficient Index portfolio since 2011, which demonstrates the companies' commitment to the transparency of their emissions.
For 15 years, until 2019, we were listed on the ISE as one of the companies that adopts the best practices and obtains the best results in corporate sustainability.
Braskem is annually assessed by Ecovadis, and is currently ranked at the top of its category.
Due to our score in the evaluation process for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (Corporate Sustainability Assessment - CSA), we were selected for the 7th consecutive time in the S&P Sustainability Yearbook. This selection recognizes that Braskem's practices in sustainable development are among the best in the chemical industry.
Brazilian LCA Business Network (LCA Network, or Rede Brasil de ACV): Braskem was one of the founders and are members of the LCA Network, which aims to mobilize companies, encourage and promote the use of LCA as a tool to determine the sustainability of products in Brazil ( https://redeacv.org.br )

We were one of 37 companies that signed a manifest protocol filed with the presidency of the republic to show concern with the conduct of the country's environmental policy, especially with the deforestation of the Amazon.

We are part of a group of 57 large companies to join efforts to inhibit the incorrect disposal of plastic waste in the environment.
We are partners in the responsible action program of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), to ensure environmental and economic sustainability in our processes. In Brazil, the Responsible Care program is promoted by ABIQUIM - Brazilian Association of Chemical Industries. Braskem has been a signatory to the Responsible Care Program® since its foundation in 2002.
We are part of the Global Compact Brazil Network, and we have implemented the 10 Principles of the Global Compact, related to human rights, labor rights, protection of the environment and combating corruption.
We are part of this World Bank initiative with the aim of helping to set carbon prices to redirect investment accordingly and manage investment risks and opportunities.
