São Paulo, February 22, 2021 - Braskem S.A. ("Braskem" or "Company"), (B3: BRKM3, BRKM5 and BRKM6; NYSE: BAK; LATIBEX: XBRK) informs its shareholders and the market that it is launching the project at the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex in Rio Grande do Sul state to expand its current production capacity of green ethylene ("Project"), the feedstock made from sugarcane ethanol and used to produce its I'm GreenTM resins, which have a negative carbon footprint.
With an estimated investment of US$61 million, the Project is expected to add 60 kta to the production of green ethylene in the Company's portfolio and is slated to start operations by end-2022.
The Project is aligned with the Company' targets of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2030 and of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, while also reinforcing its position as the global leader in biopolymers production to meet clients' needs and drive growth in the Circular Economy.
