Braskem Pledges $200,000 to the United Way for Hurricane Harvey Relief and Recovery Efforts

Braskem's Pledge Includes United Way Contribution Matching at www.braskem.com/HarveyRelief

Braskem today announces a $200,000 financial pledge to the United Way to support relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. These funds will go to directly helping those Texas Gulf Coast communities where Braskem has operations and have been affected by the historic storm including Seadrift, Oyster Creek, La Porte and Pasadena.

Mark Nikolich, Braskem North America Chief Executive Officer, stated, "As the U.S. Gulf Coast community faces historic needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Braskem is fully committed to helping our families, friends and neighbors in the communities we call home persevere. We are proud to be partnering with the United Way, which has a long history of serving as a cornerstone for long-term relief and recovery efforts following natural disasters, to have an immediate and positive impact. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted."

Braskem is donating $100,000 in immediate funding to the United Way and is matching every contribution made to the United Way through Braskem, up to an additional $100,000. Employees and any interested parties wishing to make a donation to the United Way's Hurricane Harvey relief and recovery efforts under Braskem's contribution matching program can do so online at:   www.braskem.com/HarveyRelief

In support of Braskem's team members, the company is providing temporary housing, logistics, volunteer support as well as services through the Braskem Employee Assistance Program to assist those in need. Braskem employs over 250 people in Seadrift, Oyster Creek and La Porte.
